Shenghang Group's 2024 Senior Crew Promotion Interview Day Has Come to a Successful Conclusion

According to the 2024 Senior Crew Promotion Plan of NANJING SHENGHANG SHIPPING CO., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as “the company” or “Shenghang Group”), combined with the newly effective procedures for senior crew promotion and interviews, under the direct guidance of General Manager, Li Guanghong, the crew department of the company organized the crew members who met the interview promotion conditions to go through the promotion interview assessment from November 11th to 12th, 2024. This is the first time that Shenghang Group has organized a concentrated crew promotion interview activity after the establishment of the crew promotion interview system.

Candidates must pass the promotion test, seafarer promotion assessment, recommendation letters (no less than two contract periods), and the review of the promotion application form before they are eligible to attend the interview. There are a total of 9 seafarers who are eligible for promotion this time, including 2 candidates for captain, 1 candidate for chief mate, 1 candidate for third mate, 1 candidate for chief engineer, and 3 candidates for senior chief engineer.

 

The interview process includes: 2 groups of interviewers, each consisting of 2 supervisors from the Marine Department and the Technical Department. Each candidate for promotion needs to pass the interview conducted by two groups of interviewers based on the interview outline, and the interview content is strictly limited within the scope of the outline, without expanding the scope of the interview based on the preferences of the interviewers to ensure consistent standards.

If they pass the first two rounds of interviews, the managers of the Marine Department and the Technical Department will conduct interviews. For the promotion of the captain, the final interview will be conducted by the General Manager himself. After a day and a half of intensive interviews and exchanges, 7 out of the 9 crew members passed the interview and were given the opportunity for promotion. The company will arrange for subsequent assignments on domestic or international vessels, based on their respective strengths and weaknesses identified during the interview. For certain special route vessels, newly-promoted personnel will need to undergo 10-15 days of onboard training and pass the post-training ship-shore examination before officially assuming their duties. For the two crew members who did not pass the interview for promotion this time, the company has identified areas for improvement based on their interview performance and has proposed targeted training and capacity enhancement requirements, promising to arrange them to attend subsequent promotion interviews at an appropriate time.

This activity is the first concentrated training interview for crew members organized by Shenghang Group. Subsequent activities will be normalized and institutionalized to ensure proper planning for the career of crew members.
